WHAT WE DO
Our core mission is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ, the gospel of his Resurrection to the ends of the earth for the salvation of souls.
The Formation Foundation’s area of focus is to ensure that the future leaders of the global Catholic faith receive the formation they will need to live out their apostolates faithfully, wherever the Lord takes them, by building not only an academically rigorous approach, but also by building a daily life steeped in the sacraments and prayer.
The Gospel of the Resurrection is of course changeless. So goes the same for the sacraments, which will persist until the end of time. And Catholics would all agree that the grace to respond to a vocation or apostolate comes from God. However, what is left up to us as the body of Christ is the formation, especially those critical years of formation for the future leaders of the Church.
Around ninety percent of all the bishops in the world have received advanced formation at one of the few pontifical universities in Rome. Furthermore, most rectors, professors and spiritual directors of regional and national seminaries, as well as many other diocesan leaders, like vicar generals and judicial vicars, receive advanced formation in Rome at one of these pontifical universities. In short, the vast majority of Church leaders of the 1.3 billion Catholics in the world spend a number of years in Rome for their critical formative years. Said differently, truly “all roads lead to Rome.”
This is why we partner with the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross with our scholarship initiative, to send as many future diocesan leaders as possible to this irreproachable institution in Rome for the reasonable hope of having a Church that burns with a passion and ardor for Christ as we have seen in the hearts of all the saints.
The reality however is that many Bishops, especially of poor or persecuted countries, simply do not have the resources to send their priests and seminarians to Rome and require outside funding, which is why we invite all Catholics of good will to play a role in humanity’s story of God’s love by supporting this exclusively, privately funded program.
If you agree that having a leadership in the Church focused on prayer and the sacraments is of paramount importance, perhaps you would like to join us in sponsoring one of these men or helping us raise funds in your local area.
